Foundation Details

 

Here in Maine the frost goes deep so the foundation is made of taper columns.

The four corner pieces are 5' tall and 6" square at the top and 18" square at the bottom.

The form for the telescope pier is 18" at the top and 48" at the bottom and 5' tall. All

piers have 4 pieces of rebar for strength, 8 in telescope mount.

Foam boards were put under each pier so that the frost would not travel down the pier, out

the bottom and push the pier up from the bottom. This is not my design but a cabin in northern Maine

that the foundation has not moved in the past 15 year. So far three winters in the ground and it has

not moved on me.
